Fighting Hate in Brooklyn and
Holding Electeds Accountable
Who We Are
We are grassroots constituents coming together to combat racism, sexism, antisemitism, along with all forms of hate, bigotry, and harassment in our community. We want districts rooted in tolerance and mutual respect, in which each citizen can feel safe. We are committed to holding elected officials accountable—Council Members and others—who enable, embrace, or refuse to speak out against hate. Brooklyn Bridgebuilders asserts that any leader who advocates violence—such as ‘globalizing the intifada’ or is indifferent towards antisemitism—should not hold office in a city as diverse as New York.
We aspire to see our local political leaders: (1) share our commitment to creating safe, welcoming communities free from hate, bigotry, and harassment; (2) work to build allyship and understanding between Brooklyn’s diverse communities; (3) speak out against all forms and instances of hate in our communities; (4) be willing to listen, learn and respond to concerns from their constituents; and (5) respect the right of minorities to define what constitutes bigotry against them.
What We Are Doing
Our communities are coming together to create a political voice in the 2025 election cycle. With many feeling unsafe in their own neighborhood, we intend to bring awareness to the issues of hate, and how elected officials have chosen to stand with the community or succumbed to the politics of contempt. Because we believe these issues are larger than any one candidate, we are operating independently from any campaign or candidate’s committee. Our elected officials must be responsive to the critical needs—right now—in our neighborhoods. It is unacceptable for families to live in an unsafe environment or for hate speech to be tolerated anywhere in Brooklyn.
Why Is It Worth Getting Involved?
We cannot expect our community to become safer or the climate of hate speech to stop on its own. We must be vigilant as neighbors. We must stand in solidarity against any elected officials and their supporters who insist on targeting our communities. We are sure that those that share our values are the overwhelming “silent majority” in Brooklyn. With your support, we can directly communicate with our friends and neighbors about how we can stop hate in the neighborhood and beyond.
Donate today to support real change in Brooklyn, and to improve the lives of all New Yorkers!
